Review: (#1, C) The oppressive yellow background is overwhelming and the foreground image doesn’t do enough to create genuine energy. Channing Tatum is barely identifiable and the blue lettering is the wrong shade to satisfactorily contrast with the background. (#2, C+) Although this suffers from many of the same issues as the prior design, it at least adds more foreground details to engage the viewer. They are well situated and fit nicely together and the running man in the lower right corner is a fitting addition.
(#3-#5, C+) These three character posters borrow from the second design and keep the better ideas but still feel cheaply empty. There’s so little information that the designer seems to hope the bold use of blue and yellow will be enough and that’s not likely true.
Trailer Rating: B- / B-

Review: (#1, B-) There are moments of delightful amusement in the trailer but there’s also a sense of limitation, a story that doesn’t look to have nearly enough places to go based on the information provided. It’s based on a true story, which might add some salience but the trailer doesn’t quite make this feel like the event movie it needs to be.
(#2, B-) The audience finally gets to see more about what the film’s story is. Like its predecessor, there’s some corny elements but nothing revelatory. The attempt to make the film sound like some great American film about an unusual situation comes through but only barely.
Oscar Prospects:
Derek Cianfrance can surprise us with Oscar nominated-actors but this film looks a bit too unserious to be a major Oscar player.
