Review: (#1, C) The film’s designer was clearly going for a reference to various cosmetics ads that have existed over time and while that’s an admirable attempt, it leaves the design feeling stilted and lacking in liveliness. Sure, the bug-like antennae of the lipstick creates a talking point, the shade doesn’t quite match the lipstick worn by both women, which would have been far more fitting considering the concept at the heart of the film.

Review: (#1, C+) When you’re following a success like The Substance, sometimes its best to distance your narrative as much as you can. That’s a lesson this film has failed to heed as it seems to want to build on the popularity of the Demi Moore film with limited creative direction and scenes that feel all too familiar.
