Review: (#1, C) The background is a bit too indistinct to be interesting and the foreground is too simplistic to be appealing with bland titling.

(#2, C+) The limitation of background details will always hurt a poster design but the balance isn’t badly altered by it and the balance is sufficient to be at least somewhat appealing, though it certainly lacks attention-grabbing elements. (#3-#6, C) These four designs, three of which are format-related, lack richness of creative detail and sort of just sit there without appeal.

Review: (#1, C+) The original film was surprisingly engaging and it’s a bit surprising that it’s taken nine years to greenlight a sequel, probably because the original was a box office dud. The problem is the contents of this trailer don’t make the case for its necessity. Familiar and cliché tropes and uninspired action elements make the film feel like a waste of time, even for fans of the original.

(#2, B-) With the first trailer it was difficult to remember why the original film was so charming and interesting. This preview does a far better job conveying that to the audience with sly humor. While it doesn’t do well presenting a view of the plot that makes sense, it nevertheless prepares the audience to find something enjoyable in it.

(#3, C) The familial feel of the prior design is abandoned for one that tries to highlight critics’ notices in an effort to make the film seem important. For a movie like this, that type of showmanship is ill-fitting, especially for a sequel to a movie that wasn’t successful in spite of its approbation.
