Review: (#1, C+) Simple can work quite well and while this almost carries it out, the commitment to visual symmetry in 3 of the images isn’t well disguised, nor is the similarity in size of the top and bottom segments. Blending in the typical horror motif of red, black, and white with a tinge of yellow, might create some confusion in those who aren’t familiar with the premise. (#2, B-) A lot of wasted space in this design and the black-white-red is overwhelmed by the large swath of black but the balance of the images in an asymmetrical, varying-sized stack is at least visually distinctive.
Trailer Rating: C / C / C / C+

Review: (#1-#2, C) These first two teaser trailers present very little information and apart from revealing Nicolas Cage as a star, they never create an intriguing story. (#3, C) The same is true of the second trailer, which admittedly presents more information and feels like it wants to sell the movie but doesn’t know how. There’s a religious sacrilege to the narrative that will turnoff some but there’s not enough of a subversive feel to pull in those who aren’t offended by such efforts. (#4, C+) This last trailer does a better job presenting the narrative but fails to get across the historic nature of religious horror touching on the teenage Jesus rather than his future followers. It’s a messy trailer that is quite dark at times and presents Cage doing some of his worst scenery chewing but ultimately feels like it’s got potential were it not in its present form.
