Synopsis:

From IMDb: “A group of teenage boys compete in an annual contest known as “The Long Walk,” where they must maintain a certain walking speed or get shot.”

Review: (#1, B-) The military component is well handled here, flanking and surrounding the foreground characters. Having the central figures framed in is a nice effect. The only real issue is the dullness of the color scheme, though the orange complements it well.

(#2-#11, C) These character posters are simplistic and dull. There’s little unique to each and that makes them blur together.

(#12, B-) Although there aren’t a lot of details here, the thematic nature of the design and its symbolism help hammer home the film’s premise, though the dog tag element doesn’t make a ton of sense without familiarity with the material. (#13, C+) While it’s an atmospheric design, it’s more than a little dull. (#14-#16, B-) Separately, these posters aren’t terribly interesting but together they form a concept for the film that has a certain visual flair. Seldom used colors make them all stand out.

Review: (#1, C+) Narrative confusion eventually gives way to understanding as the trailer progresses. While it does create some intrigue in its post-apocalyptic vibe, it struggles to find a way to make its “linear” storyline seem like it has anywhere to go.

(#2, C+) It’s hard to imagine a film of this premise moving along interestingly enough and the re-use of scenes from the prior trailer doesn’t alleviate that concern but getting a better understanding of a couple of the characters will improve its chances slightly.
