Review: (#1, C) A poster design has to draw the attention of someone not familiar with a film and make them excited to see it. This design does nothing to convey that impression without some knowledge of the film already. It’s simplistic and dull. (#2, C+) I give the designers credit for doing something much more interesting, going with silhouettes to present the figures in the story and the ideas are fairly well evoked. The trouble is the use of red and black and white with little variance in their depth or energy makes for an otherwise flat and lifeless design.

Trailer Rating: C / C+

Review: (#1, C) The first trailer for this film is a bit of disjointed horror claptrap. The concept isn’t well executed and the appeal is limited only to your interest in seeing John Lithgow do something bonkers. (#2, C+) Yet, the second trailer doesn’t do too bad a job making the demented fun palatable. It gives the viewer a better idea of what the film is about but doesn’t give enough away to be avoided. Still, it feels like a shell of a movie that needed something more grounding to make it enticing.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
