Review: (#1, C) This French design is poorly used. The blues are nice and bold but the background details are poorly conveyed and the blocky white lettering and background overwhelming everything that makes the poster visually compelling.

(#2, C) Not far removed from the prior design, the color scheme leaves a lot to be desired and the regimented use of positioning and perspective ultimately makes it look a bit dull.

Trailer Rating: C- / B+

Review: (#1, C-) When teasing a film, it’s important to do more than just throw images on the screen that don’t make any sense. This trailer has no direction, no rooting interest, and nothing that would make anyone even curious about its content.

(#2, B+) David Cronenberg is a very interesting filmmaker. He isn’t one that a lot of audiences know because of his niche status as an artistic body-horror maestro. That’s why he can attract such a quality and appealing cast. This trailer highlights the suggestiveness of his horrific vision while making it feel like a movie that fans of his will be willing to sit down to see. There are moments that could even attract less erudite fans of horror films but the entirety of the trailer does a fine job selling the film as it is without bowing to custom or pressure.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
