Review: (#1, C) Establishing the film being in black-and-white is acceptable but the lack of energy, movement, or depth makes it rather underwhelming. And the red title makes this seem like a tepid horror film rather than a work of art as we might expect from François Ozon.

Trailer Rating: B-

Review: (#1, B-) There’s something menacing sitting underneath this trailer. The lack of emotion from the lead character creates a sense of unease which gives the preview some depth and intrigue even if the killing that drives the narrative is amorphous and feels a bit tangential at times.

Oscar Prospects:

François Ozon has struggled for Oscar recognition for years and is due for some soon though this might not be the film to bring that.
