Review: (#1, C+) An axe in place of a shovel requires a secondary attachment to the possibility. A shovel is used for burying but an axe suggests a different type of burial. It’s not going to make sense to everyone. With the underwhelming backdrop, the end result is something nice but boring.
(#2, C) The ruddy hue and the limited impact of the scene do little to create a sense of creative energy or emotional investment.
Trailer Rating: C+ / B

Review: (#1, C+) When you have a film built around a mystery, revealing too much of that can ruin the potential excitement of seeing the movie. However, being a bit too oblique about the narrative doesn’t make the movie seem as interesting as it could be. This trailer does little to handle both issues effectively.
(#2, B) The first trailer struggled to convince the audience that they were in for something unique and while this trailer certainly tells the audience more about what’s going on, it’s still a little light on the details and too heavily focused on the action elements. The horror is minimized, which might limit its impact.
Oscar Prospects:
None.
