Can Captain America: New World Order take the top spot again? Not if Osgood Perkins’ The Monkey has anything to say about it. Stephen King’s movies have shown a resilience at the box office that should prove difficult to beat, especially if Captain America doesn’t earn the kind of repeat business that has made the MCU a success.

OTHER RELEASES

We are only looking at films that have had trailers released on Rotten Tomatoes’ trailer YouTube Channels. Below are some other films that are releasing this weekend that we haven’t considered.

The Comeback Trail (Limited)
Invasion (Limited)
Lifeline (Limited)
Millers in Marriage (Limited)
Once Upon A Time in Algeria (Limited)
UnBroken (Limited)

WIDE RELEASES

THE MONKEY

THE UNBREAKABLE BOY

The Monkey

Wesley Lovell: The early reviews have been terrific. I’m intrigued.

Peter J. Patrick: Looks like a better than usual modern horror film.

Thomas La Tourrette: The few early reviews are laudatory, but the film just does not appeal to me.

The Unbreakable Boy

Wesley Lovell: Looks like an inspirational mess.

Peter J. Patrick: Looks like a nice family film.

Thomas La Tourrette: It looks to be trying way too hard to be inspirational and failing at that.

LIMITED RELEASES

CLEANER

EX-HUSBANDS

OLD GUY

THE QUIET ONES

The Limited Slate

Wesley Lovell: I can’t say any of these films, especially not the three actioners, sound very good

Peter J. Patrick: Finally, a week in which all the releases look decent.

Thomas La Tourrette: None of these look very exciting, and most feel like copies of previous films, I doubt I will see any of them.
