It’s going to be a tight race between Haywire and Red Tails with the better marketing strategy winning out. I think Haywire has a slight edge tapping into the genre enthusiasts who make films like last weekend’s champ Contraband hits.

Consensus

Below is a list of what we have come to a general consensus on. The number in parens represents the percentage of our contributors who agree with the statement.

Haywire: Depending on what you think of Steven Soderbergh’s genre films will determine whether the film looks interesting or not.
Red Tails: Will this be one to remember or one to be forgotten?
Underworld Awakening: Another film in a franchise that will make the difference in whether you want to watch it or not.
Carol Channing: Larger Than Life: Mostly intriguing to Caro Channing fans and few others.

Thoughts

Soderbergh may be a bit lengthy in execution, but his films rarely disappoint. And this one looks especially interesting.

Thoughts

Looks like one of Soderbergh’s lesser efforts but with an all-star cast making worth a look.

Thoughts

Steven Soderbergh is an Oscar-winner, but his genre films tend to be ignored by the Academy.

This looks like a ham-fisted, sermonizing war drama.

Thoughts

Looks like an exciting film based on the activities of WWII’s Tuskegee Arimen.

Thoughts

The kind of January release that everyone (even the Academy) forgets by February.

Thoughts

Please stop giving this franchise money. It’s not worth it.

Thoughts

Looks like another poorly lit, poorly acted cheesey horror flick.

Thoughts

Neither I, nor the Academy, have seen the other films in the series. Why start now?

I love Carol Channing, but the documentary doesn’t look like something I’d want to see on the big screen.

Thoughts

Is there anyone else out there whose entire legend rests on songs from just two Broadway shows (Gentlemen Prefer Blondes; Hello, Dolly!), which they are performing on the eve their 90th birthday?

Thoughts

Your pleasure from this probably comes from how much you can take of Carol Channing.
