A sequel and a racing drama face off for the top spot at the box office. F1 is more likely to take the weekend though it won’t be an easy battle with M3GAN 2.0, which could also take the top spot. Either way, we’ll have a new box office champ for one week.

Pete Patrick: Highly anticipated race car melodrama could be one of the summer’s biggest hits.

Thomas La Tourrette: The trailer looks trite, but decent reviews make it sound worth seeing.

M3GAN 2.0

Wesley Lovell: I haven’t seen the original but have always been curious. This doesn’t advance my curiosity but it doesn’t diminish it.

Pete Patrick: I had no desire to see the original and even less to see the sequel.

Thomas La Tourrette: Having not seen the original, I have no desire to see this one.

Sorry, Baby

Wesley Lovell: This looks rather dull.

Pete Patrick: Well received at Sundance, this character study seems worth a shot.

Thomas La Tourrette: The reviews are stellar but a dull trailer does not excite whatsoever. Not sure about this at all.

Wesley Lovell: Not much this weekend with potential.

Pete Patrick: Hot Milk looks like something you might watch if you stumbled upon it, but Off the Grid looks like something to avoid.

Thomas La Tourrette: I like Fiona Shaw as an actress, but not sure that that’ll be enough to make me see Hot Milk. Off the Grid just looks bad.
