With a horror film and a new Karate Kid film releasing, the second weekend for Lilo & Stitch and Mission: Impossibe will have at least some token competition. While Lilo will likely remain at the top, Karate Kid Legends is likely to be the top new release.

OTHER RELEASES

We are only looking at films that have had trailers released on Rotten Tomatoes’ trailer YouTube Channels. Below are some other films that are releasing this weekend that we haven’t considered.

The Crucifix (Limited)
Tornado (Limited)

WIDE RELEASES
BRING HER BACK KARATE KID: LEGENDS

Bring Her Back

Wesley Lovell: It doesn’t have a hook that excites me.

Pete Patrick: Looks like a better than usual horror film set in an isolated house in the woods.

Thomas La Tourrette: It sounds like Sally Hawkins gives an impressive performance, but looks like an unpleasant horror movie.

Karate Kid: Legends

Wesley Lovell: I might have been interested when I was a kid but this series didn’t age terribly well to me.

Pete Patrick: Apparently leans toward the inferior 2010 remake of the original despite the presence of Ralph Macchio.

Thomas La Tourrette: I enjoyed the original The Karate Kid, but not sure I feel any need to watch a very late sequel.

LIMITED RELEASES
GHOST TRAIL THE PHOENICIAN SCHEME

The Limited Slate

Wesley Lovell: It looks like second-rate Wes Anderson, so I’m not terribly interested. And the other film doesn’t look terribly appealing either.

Pete Patrick: Direct from Cannes, both of these films are worth seeking out.

Thomas La Tourrette: The Phoenician Scheme looks like any other Wes Anderson film which is not a total compliment anymore. It might be cute and fun but probably nothing more than that. Ghost Trail could prove an interesting thriller, but the trailer is not as exciting as it should be.
