Will Jordan Peele’s stellar $70 million debut be make it the only number one weekend for Us? Most likely as Disney’s latest live-action adaptation of its animated classics, Dumbo, flies its way into theaters with strong early word and the Tim Burton box office magic too bolster Disney’s own almost infallibility.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): As much as I have grown to dislike Tim Burton’s “charm” as a filmmaker, I’ll admit that this looks like classic Burton rather than more recent Burton.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like they jettisoned the score except for “Baby Mine” to make room for a convoluted storyline, so I’m not sure this will move audiences to the extent that the 1941 animated feature did.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Not a fan of Matthew McConaughey and this film doesn’t look to improve my impressions of him.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like utter garbage.
