Tying for first place in the nominations from the Washington DC Area Film Critics are two technical achievements, only one of which managed a Best Film nomination. The Shape of Water, Blade Runner 2049, and Mudbound were among the top seven films nominated, but not cited for Best Film. The rest of the list feels pretty standard, though the support of Mudbound is surprisingly high. This could be another situation where Netflix does well with critics and then crashes at the Oscars.
