In this vote, I’m going to be very very alone and very very wrong. But it’s all in fun, so let’s have at it.

GRAMMY AWARDS

Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media

Boardwalk Empire: Volume 1
Burlesque
Glee: The Music, Volume 4 (Wesley)
Tangled
True Blood: Volume 3 (RU:Wesley)

Wesley Lovell: I have a hard time putting my finger on this one. My prediction goes with Glee simply because it has single-handedly done more to boost popular music sales than any other program in the last several decades. Yet, the show has gotten long in the tooth and Grammy voters are often hard to pin down. It could easily go to either of the other television entries or Burlesque simply based on name recognition. Poor Tangled is just lucky to be nominated.

Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media

Black Swan
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 (RU:Wesley)
The King’s Speech
The Shrine
TRON Legacy (Wesley)

Wesley Lovell: Unlike Oscar voters, the Grammy voters don’t mind taking a risk and TRON Legacy seems like the perfect risk for them. They could still go for Alexandre Desplat, but for which film? While The King’s Speech was an Oscar nominee last year, Harry Potter is the most recent of the four big screen efforts on the list and may be more instantly recollect-able.

Best Song Written for Visual Media

“Born to Be Somebody” – Never Say Never (Dianne Warren)
“Christmastime Is Killing Us” – Family Guy (Ron Jones, Seth MacFarlane, Danny Smith)
“I See the Light” – Tangled (Alan Menken, Glenn Slater)
“So Long” – Winnie the Pooh (Zooey Deschanel) (RU:Wesley)
“Where the River Goes” – Footloose (Zac Brown, Wyatt Durrette, Drew Pearson, Anne Preven) (Wesley)

Wesley Lovell: I’m not going too far out on a limb to predict the Zac Brown band to win this trophy. As far as musicality is concerned, the song works quite well. That it appeals to the Grammy-type of voter is the better. Yet, something tells me that we could see another winner. It’s hard to get a grip on this category when there’s no Oscar winner present. The cutesy “So Long” could be a spoiler, but then again so could any of the others.
