Every week, we’ll pose a new “five favorites” question. You just list your five favorites that fit in that category (preferably in preference order) and you’re welcome to discuss and debate the selections and see just how much you do or do not have in common with others. If you want to take a look back at our past articles to comment or enjoy, here is a post set aside to track all of our articles.

Some great picks here. If I’d have thought about it longer, I would have remembered Martin Landau, Joan Allen, Ralph Fiennes and some of the others. There’s probably dozens of other fine supporting performances I’m not thinking of.
Geoffrey Rush as Lionel Logue in “The King’s Speech”
Martin Landau as Bela Lugosi in “Ed Wood”
Ralph Fiennes as Amon Goeth in “Schindler’s List”
Joseph Schildkraut as Alfred Dreyfus in “The Life of Emile Zola”
Tommy Lee Jones as Thaddeus Stevens in “Lincoln”
Florence Eldgrede as Elizabeth I in Mary of Scotland (1936)
Ruth Gordon as Mary Todd Lincoln in Abe Lincoln in Illinois (1940)
Christopher Plummer as Mike Wallace in The Insider (1999)
Ruth Nelson as Ellen Wilson in Wilson (1944)
Adam Beach as Ira Hayes in Flags of Our Fathers (2006)
Martin Landau as Bela Lugosi in Ed Wood.
Ralph Fiennes as Amon Goeth in Schindler’s List
Patty Duke as Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker
Jason Robards as Ben Bradley in All the President’s Men
Joan Allen as Pat Nixon in Nixon
John Quincy Adams as portrayed by Anthony Hopkins in “Amistad” (1997)
George M. Cohan as portrayed by James Cagney in “The Seven Little Foys” (1955)
Katharine Hepburn as portrayed by Cate Blanchett in “The Aviator” (2004)
Molly Brown as portrayed by Kathy Bates in “Titanic” (1997)
