Our final Oscar-themed poll is today with your five favorite Oscar Hosts.
I apologize for not having much of an opinion here. I don’t think any of the hosts (on the telecasts I’ve watched at least) have had too much of an impact. Here are 5 people I wouldn’t mind seeing as a future host:
1. Steve Carell (He is a likable comedian, extremely talented and still relevant. I think he would do a smashing job)
2. Paul Rudd (He’s headlined a few movies, but it just doesn’t seem like Rudd has gotten his “BIG” break yet. Something tells me he’d be a solid host with the right material)
3. Tim Curry (A strange choice to be sure, but I don’t know a single person who doesn’t like this guy, and he hasn’t done much in years so it would be a welcome comeback for him)
4. Jim Carrey (Not everyone likes him, but you can’t deny that he certainly has the energy and antics to put on a good show and keep viewers awake, especially in it’s final hour)
5. Jimmy Kimmel (we all know talk show host, David Letterman didn’t fare so well, but I think Jimmy has the comedic chops and the right impromptu to do a good job)
I will only name hosts that I actually watched live on the screen …(no doubt Bob Hope is the most legendary), that´s why I only have a Top3
1. Whoopi Goldberg ( I simply love her style and humor….also her costume changes were funny)
2. Ellen De Generes ( I think I totally gor for the women )
3. Billy Crystal
….by the way the worst for me was Chris Rock. I remember I always was close to switch the channel when he opened his mouth.
1. Bob Hope
2. Johnny Carson
3. Whoopi Goldberg (probably alone on this one, but I had the most fun during her hosting gigs)
4. Hugh Jackman
5. Anne Hathaway alone (I think she would have been a terrific host on her own).
Sadly, I forgot Ellen, so she would probably come in right above Hathaway. And I would only have to drop Hope and Carson from the ones I have/have not seen.
