Review: (#1, B) A disconcerting design that positions the viewer upside down from the image. That speaks metaphorically to the film’s premise and creates something that draws the viewer’s eye but it doesn’t provide enough details to make a sale.

Trailer Rating: C+

Review: (#1, C+) At one point in the trailer, a critic is quoted as saying the film is beautifully shot and that is indeed an idea that emerges after watching the trailer. It does look gorgeous. The problem is the narrative is so vaguely conveyed that the mystery becomes more about what the film is about rather than the mystery of its missing mother. That may end up confusing the audience rather than exciting them.

Oscar Prospects:

Director Andrew Haigh can secure acting citations at the Oscars but much beyond that is difficult and although this could be a contender for Best Cinematography, there are a few too many potential nominees this year for it to overcome.
