(#2, C) Establishing the film as a period coming of age story doesn’t create the visual intrigue one might expect from a film of subtle disturbing beauty.

Review: (#1, C+) A confusing narrative that questions whether the characters are pro-Hitler or anti-Hitler or just pro-populism or anti-populism. There have been so many narratives surrounding the German events of World War II that it’s difficult to find new angles and while this might tackle one, it does so in an oblique and rudimentary manner.
