Review: (#1, C-) There’s a missed opportunity here to have the waves create the Aquaman logo. That might have saved the design, which is otherwise rather dull.

(#2, C+) Lots of fishies makes a fitting backdrop, though the city and underwater environs are a bit too indistinct. (#3, C) The nice, but uneventful backdrop pair sufficiently with, but doesn’t accentuate the foreground set of images. (#4-#7, C) Each of these format designs have their charms, but none of them distinguish themselves enough to stand out. (#8-#10, C-) Three uninspired character posters with an admittedly sharp vertical tagline that seem a bit too dull for the purpose, to sell individual posters.

(#11, C) The empty background is too bright, which makes it even more glaring that there’s just not enough content to this design. (#12, C+) This has a few more details than its immediate predecessor, but they all look a bit cheaply connected and the subtlety of the Aquaman symbol in the background is the only saving grace.

Trailer Rating: C- / C+ / C+

Review: (#1, C-) This is a teaser trailer, which seems utterly unnecessary in this day and age yet so a part of the modern release strategies. The trailer has some appealing visuals, but never strikes the viewer as foreshadowing something interesting.

(#2, C+) After the awful teaser, this new trailer is a cacophony of sounds and visuals that struggle to make the film look more engaging than its predecessor while presenting visual effects that look pretty tepid.

(#3, C+) There’s more narrative information in this trailer, which may endear the film to some in the audience, but the action is fairly generic and the dramatic tension is minimized thanks to the limited attention given the villain.

Oscar Prospects:

It could have some potential in the craft categories, but that seems unlikely.
