Review: (#1) A desert vista and a “welcome to” billboard on the side of the road do fit the theme of the film, but neither separate nor combined are they interesting.

(#2) It’s not clear why there’s a “cast photo” in the film, but the empty space in the sky might accentuate the lower half, but it creates too much imbalance. (#3-#5) These character posters are about as dull as one could expect with a background of empty nothingness and a too-frequently-used background detail of a guy in a jetpack.

Trailer Rating: C+

Review: While we always expect a Wes Anderson film to look a certain way, this trailer is probably the most Wes Anderson trailer of Wes Anderson’s career. It’s twee to an almost annoying degree.

Oscar Prospects:

Never discount a Wes Anderson film’s chances, but apart from Production Design and Costume Design, possibly Original Score, I can’t see this being a broadly popular selection. That said, with 10 slots in Best Picture, it could also pick that up and never underestimate Anderson’s screenwriting chances either.
