Review: (#1, B-) Director Sian Heder managed to hit a zeitgeisty moment when CODA stormed the Oscars five years ago and with her big screen follow up, it’s clear her focus will be on disability representation on the big screen and that’s a laudable purpose but this trailer doesn’t do a lot to suggest the film will be another emotional hit. It looks to have a predictable through line but an affecting performance from star Lindsay Leese so it could defy expectations.

Oscar Prospects:

Mark Ruffalo could be a contender but this film from CODA filmmaker Sian Heder looks like it might be too slight for the Oscars…but that seemed true of CODA too and see where that went.
