Review: (#1) The vast empty blackness, while thematic, is uninspired as a poster design element.

(#2) Giving a narrow glimpse of the setting plays well into teh film’s concept and having the two figures so prominently displayed is perhaps a bit cheap, but is weakly effective.

Trailer Rating: C+ / B- / C-

Review: (#1) Bird Box Barcelona takes a more international hue than the Sandra Bullock original as it repositions the narrative to another location within the broader international incident. The trailer doesn’t do enough to sell to non-Bird Box fans and the paltry amount of details makes it questionably engaging.

(#2) The hint at adaptation is an intriguing one, but the attention-grabber here is that subway sequence. Would that they hadn’t ruined that reveal in the trailer, but it does create a bit of intrigue.

(#3) This latest trailer drains almost all of the tension out of the film, giving it a rather lame subplot that doesn’t pay out sufficiently. People who will be interested in this already know what Bird Box is. Not much in this trailer would convince non-fans to check it out, nor will it likely provide enough appeal for existing fans.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
