Review: Too much empty space. While it focuses the viewer on the romantic pair at the center, that’s not enough to generate visual beauty. The titling is interesting, which prevents the entire design from feeling a bit bland.

Trailer Rating: B+ / C+

Review: (#1) A riveting aural element neatly segues the world of dance into the world of street fighting and ends up making this film look a lot more compelling that it might be. Certainly, it’s an adaptation of the opera, so that might explain it, but ultimately it’s more of a curiosity than a lot of other films, which is intriguing.

(#2) The rhythm of the first trailer is sublimated in this trailer, leaving a rather formulaic love story behind that doesn’t have enough uniqueness to appeal to the viewer.

Oscar Prospects:

I don’t see the film playing terribly well at the Oscars, but it could be cited for its choreography with groups that have such an award.
