Review: (#1, C+) A nice setting, smiling family, and muted colors. It doesn’t say enough about the film’s premise. (#2, C) Bringing the viewer in and giving the title its own sky-bound space to stay might have been a fitting choice but it limits the details of the image.

Review: (#1, B) Like Anatomy of a Fall, the trailer goes to great lengths to avoid pointing fingers at the perpetrators of the child abuse on display but it also hints at a religio-centric defense that gives the audience to wonder which direction the film will take and who the actual culprit is whether it’s the calm-veneered father, the seemingly loving mother, or if the children are making up the abuse for selfish reasons. That mystery may help sell the film but really, it’s the awards consideration that will make it a hit or not.

Oscar Prospects:

Cristian Mungiu has been bubbling under the Oscar competition for years and with his high profile Cannes win this year, he could finally cross the finish line for mainline Oscar nominations.
