Review: (#1, C) The couch doesn’t make an appearance in the film, so why must it be used here. People already know who Freud is and that detail isn’t going to tell them anything they don’t already know. Then, there’s the uninspired background and overly wordy titling. That leaves the central image to do the heavy lifting and it doesn’t.

Trailer Rating: C / C+

Review: (#1, C) There’s a better story available in this narrative than the one on display in the trailer, which positions this as more of a mano-a-mano fight between atheist Sigmund Freud and deist C.S. Lewis. It’s presented with such a methodical and plodding approach that it’s no wonder the film hasn’t been on anyone’s must-see list so far.

(#2, C+) It’s difficult to gauge which trailer is talkier, but this one feels like it. The meeting of minds is dully presented, but the lack of specificity might help it reach an audience.

Oscar Prospects:

They can’t be that interested in nominating Anthony Hopkins again, could they? At this point, who knows for sure?
