Review: (#1, C) A simplistic use of metaphor, the upper third reveals the monster stalking those in the bottom two thirds. It doesn’t effectively set the setting or concept of the film, except resembling a Predator clone. The lettering looking like the kind of heat-vision predators employed, except more opalescent, only strengthens the connection.

(#2-#3, C) This pair of designs is far too reminiscent of Jordan Peele’s Nope and perhaps that’s intentional but regardless, it looks underwhelming. (#4-#5, C) Two character photos that lean into the aesthetic of the prior design but with all the same issues of visual dullness. (#6-#8, C+) The three format-specific designs have visual distinctiveness and dig a bit more into the potential creative energy the film should be offering, especially the Dolby effort, which is easily the more interesting of the three to look at.

Review: (#1, C+) Watching the trailer, some audiences may be reminded a bit of District 9 while others may bring images of Predator to mind. Korea has been known to take popular American films and re-envision them for modern audiences but this doesn’t appear to be a film that will have success doing that. The tension is high but the stakes are non-existent.

(#2, B-) Taking this film’s trailer back to its roots in action and monster movie aesthetics helps alleviate concerns of this being derived from films like District 9 and Predator. That inherently adds a bit more interest but there aren’t enough new details to justify a second trailer that won’t do much in the way of building more than passable excitement in the film.
