Review: (#1, C-) That empty yellow background is tacky in how cheap it is. Disney’s initial poster offerings are always underwhelming and while that might seem appropriate for a tease to a film that’s almost a year away, it doesn’t make for an appealing design even with a cute beaver on the front.
(#2, C) Minimizing the bright yellow background adds little to the design, leaving simplistic story elements and moments to stick out poorly. (#3, B) This design does a better job than most of explaining the plot of the film with simple visual details. It’s still unnecessarily minimal but it’s probably stronger than any could hope for from Diseny/Pixar these days. (#4, C) We’re back to the blinding background but this time with more chaarcters on display. It doesn’t speak well to the film’s premise. (#5-#6, C+) With a closer-up version of the prior design featuring the same characters but with less oppressive background, it’s at least more appealing, though still lacks plot reference. The designs are mirrored so that the protagonist in human and beaver form are in the exact same position with no changes elsewise.
(#7, C+) It has a cutesy appeal with a thematic connection but nothing particular inventive or exciting. (#8-#10, C) These yellow monstrosities are cheap-looking. (#11, C+) Credit for stepping away from the yellow but the end result isn’t anything terribly intriguing. (#12-#13, C) The prior format design was at least unique, these other two dig into the tedium and create more blandness.
(#14-#27, C) Disney/Pixar has a ton of money but their poster designs are so unnecessarily simplistic that it’s very disappointing. That’s especially true when there’s nothing different in each of these fourteen character posters outside of the characters themselves.
(#18, C) We’ve seen this design before and there are no real improvements to the format or with the content. (#19, C) While having less background certainly improves the effort, the Silence of the Lambs pun is unexpected for a film like this. That should improve its rating but the effort is just too simplistic to give it more than a half-letter improvement from C- to C.

Review: (#1, C+) It’s surprising to get such a bountiful series of images for a teaser nearly a year out. You get the idea of the film’s premise and a bit about its humor and the end result is something that has cute animals but an anemic plot.
(#2, B) There’s a point in advertising design, usually right before a film’s release where almost the entire plot is given away in the film’s trailer. This is an example of how to get close to that without going completely over the line. It’s close, though because you can probably extrapolate where the film will end up just by watching the trailer. Still, there’s just enough room for a few surprises to end up in there, though the underwhelming humor might be a problem for some.
(#3, B) Another somewhat funny but underwhelming trailers that want to try to spread the interest to more audiences but ultimately preaches to the choir with little new or interesting about this new effort.
(#4, B-) At this point, audiences probably already know what the film is about and there’s nothing in this latest, incredibly short trailer that will change their minds about seeing it.
