Review: (#1, C) The “watch out for children” tagline would be more intriguing were it accompanied by a creepy child but it’s not, the suggestion of the figure in the window is that it’s an adult preying on children rather than the opposite. (#2, C+) This consistency of the blood isn’t quite perfect, especially the portion on the ice cream and the forefinger but it does a solid job getting across the notion of horror related to children but again there’s no suggestion that the kids are who the audience should be afraid of.

Review: (#1, C) 1984’s Children of the Corn might not have piloted the psycho killer children concept (Village of the Damned certainly predates them both by almost 20 years) but bears a striking resemblance to the events depicted in this film, namely psychotic children killing for unknown reasons. Of course King’s horror classic established a reason for the slaughter. This film doesn’t quite get there, though the suggestion that the creepy ice cream truck might be the source. It’s Weapons except the kids are doing the killing this time. Perhaps the analogy doesn’t quite work but neither does the presentation in this trailer.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
