Review: (#1-#4, C+) The tabloid-esque flash photography conceit ties in well to the film’s premise but the contained images, including for the individual character posters, make for a disappointing view even if they manage to make the character designs different background settings but consistently visualized.

Trailer Rating: C+

Review: (#1, C+) Looking at Rupert Murdoch’s obsession with scandal doesn’t have a lot of possibilities by itself but the trailer suggests most of the outlandish stories the paper reveals (or possibly creates out of whole cloth) are reconstructed for the audience to appreciate the scandalous situations the newspaper covers. The trailer doesn’t quite reveal how commonplace the overall film is but at least it has a spark of something more.

Oscar Prospects:

The evolution of the Rupert Murdoch media empire and its tawdy tabloid tentpole The Sun might have possibilities because of its director but the year’s Oscar contest seems to be overstuffed and I can imagine this film getting pushed out of th limelight.
