Review: (#1, C) A hapless teaser that has some detail to it and puts in some references fans of the original cartoon will recognize, it’s a rather tepid effort in the end, certainly not one that will succeed in expanding the potential audience.
(#2-#3, B+) These two designs are largely the same, hence the valuation; however, if there’s a winner, it’s the first design, which makes the poster feel more contained but engaging while the second looks slightly overstuffed. (#4-#8, C) Format designs are a dime a dozen and usually that cheaply produced. (#9-#26, C+) Single stills from the film with minor affectation changes don’t make for a pleasant poster series, though credit is do for at least making each minorly unique from the others.
(#27, C+) The ostensibly last format design is colorful but far too blurry to be compelling.

Review: (#1, B-) This trailer looks like the producers clearly spared no expense in making this film with big bold set pieces, bountiful visual effects, and a grand sense of action but that’s about as far as it goes before devolving into a mediocre evocation of ’80s nostalgia, which is dripping from every frame with a suggestion of tongue-in-cheek excitement but without an interesting screenplay to go with.
(#2, C+) When you’re done teasing and settled on throwing all of the best bits into your trailer, this is the result. While the plot is somewhat less amorphous this time around, it isn’t entirely understandable. That said, there are plenty of exciting moments that suggest a movie that might be derivative but at least mildly fun.
(#3, C+) Throwing everything into a trailer risks ruining much of the moviegoing experience and this trailer is very much insistent on that point. It wants the film to look cool and broadly appealing but considering the source material, it might have been more successful if it better appealed to those fans rather than trying to set it up as a more accessible blockbuster.
