Review: (#1, B) Although this is just a scene from the film, it’s an unsettling one with the long, obliquely-shaped hallway creating a sense of vertigo with splashes of light and color to energize the eye. Unfortunately, the title section cutting across the top is poorly done and unbalances the image in the wrong way. (#2, C) An excessive darkness might play into the title’s theme but it is visually consuming. (#3, C+) Taking the concept of the prior design and making the central figure larger helps keep the design from being subsumed by darkness but the garish red lettering plays into horror poster tropes too much. (#4, C+) Having the protagonist’s face as the flame to the candle and the mysterious figure in the background drawn to it is an intriguing concept but it might have been better handled with a different color for the tagline and title, one that better blended with the candle and flame itself.

Trailer Rating: C+

Review: (#1, C+) A trope-laden trailer mixes with dull execution to create a foundation for a movie that looks surprisingly dull despite the potential of its concept.
