Review: (#1, C) The trite American Gothic energy is poorly handled and visually underwhelming. (#2-#3, B-) This pair of nearly identical severed finger efforts hit the right energy but lack the level of intense detail we want to see in our poster designs. (#4, B) Shifting from American Gothic to something more akin to Amityville Horror and the colors are more interesting than the other efforts so far.
Trailer Rating: B- / C+

Review: (#1, B-) This dark comedy ends up a bit confusing in the end. At first, it looks like a remote cabin horror film, then it looks like a romantic comedy. The blend of genres don’t quite work and while the scene with the couple trying to out-act each other is interesting, the end result is something that looks a bit staid. The older man dynamic is a bit icky even if they tried to make Jason Segel look like he’s in his thirties (spoiler, they don’t succeed).
(#2, C+) While the initial set up was interesting, the subsequent trailer gives more details of the plot but doesn’t make the concept look all that funny despite its description. There are a couple of moments that might shine but overall it was a disappointment.
Oscar Prospects:
None.
