Review: (#1, C) The subtleness of the design doesn’t tell the audience much about the film and without details or a viewing of the trailer, it won’t make a lick of sense. (#2, C+) The previous design was too subtle in its reference to the kid being mechanical but this one does a slightly better job. It could still be a prosthetic hand but it’s at least more info than we’ve gotten so far. (#3, C) A single film scene that speaks nothing of scope or intrigue. (#4, C) Another day-in-the-life aesthetic that doesn’t give the viewer much detail.

Trailer Rating: C+

Review: (#1, C+) Expressing the film’s plot rather efficiently, there’s not enough anticipation or mystery to explain how the film is reaching its feature-length. For Koreeda fans, this will be exciting on its own but there aren’t a lot of other audiences it will be able to capture.

Oscar Prospects:

Koreeda has slowly been gaining attention from the Academy and this could be his formal breakthrough.
