Review: The idea of Michael Moore as a proctologist is certainly disturbing and the poster gives us that impression, but its subversive and suggestive theme is quite interesting.

Moore’s choice of imagery is always amusing. Using the age-old bones-of-those-who’ve-waited-forever gag to represent the worst part of waiting for a physician is entertaining. While this is only a small part of the problem, it does entice a skeptic viewer to think about catching the flick even if they wouldn’t have otherwise.

Review: He may not be the popular person, but his documentaries are supremely entertaining and what we learn about our government is disappointing. Sicko continues that long tradition by targeting the U.S. health care system, which should make for arresting filmmaking. Even the preview features a few rather humorous moments, despite the seriousness of the subject.

Oscar Prospects:

Although many are rubbed the wrong way by Moore, there’s no question that he’s finally starting to get the recognition he deserves. With Bowling for Columbine, he assured he wasn’t likely to win another Oscar. His tirade on the show turned a lot of people off. However, the Documentary committee is far more receptive and likely to recognize him. As long as he doesn’t pull Docu consideration like he did for Fahrenheit 9/11, we should see Sicko as an Oscar nominee this year.
