Review: (#1, B+) A take on the painting The Last Supper, which a lovely gold highlight to symbolize the arch and columns of the background. The emptiness of the backdrop is disappointing, but the effort is visually striking.

(#2-#11, B) These character posters have unique colors and a cohesive theme, but the bland backdrop hinders their appeal.

Trailer Rating: B- / C+

Review: (#1, B-) The first trailer uses Prince’s music as an undercurrent and somehow makes the events transpiring on screen more compelling as a result. Perhaps the narrative could have been given a fresher touch, but there’s little question this is an intriguing effort. (#2, C+) The second uses less familiar music as a backdrop and gives more details about the narrative, but that doesn’t embellish the film’s potential and represents a step down from the prior design.

Oscar Prospects:

The early release date will hurt its chances of nominations.
