Review: (#1) This type of design doesn’t create intrigue and while it tries to sell the film on a single actor’s presence, that effort isn’t particularly effective for a film like this. (#2) The background has a little more information that might influence the viewer’s interest, but it’s not terribly likely with something as inconsequential as this design.

(#3) While the foreground of Nicholas Hoult more interested in the food than his date makes some sense to the film’s premise, the background is hard to parse and looks tacked on.

Trailer Rating: B+ / B-

Review: (#1) The concept isn’t conveyed well in the film’s synopsis, but the trailer does a lot of heavy lifting, convincing the audience of the oddity, creative energy, and uniqueness that could bring in plenty of curiosity-seekers.

(#2) With a film like this, getting the audience excited about the mystery is imperative. The first trailer did that. This trailer undoes some of that work by giving far too much information about the plot and its potential resolution. While it’s also a bit funnier than the first trailer, that might not be enough to undo the damage done.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
