Review: (#1) A nice visual balance between locales as well as fitting and well balanced headshots and layering for the central figures. (#2) The empty background is wasted and the foreground/middle-ground elements look cheap.

Review: (#1 & #2) The first trailer has a general charm to it that the second trailer doesn’t. The haphazard editing in the second trailer makes the film look stilted and halting whereas the first trailer trades on the charms of its wonderful cast. If you see the first, you’re much more likely to have an interest in the film than if you see the second.

Oscar Prospects:

There was a point in the 1990s that a film like this would have to be taken very seriously as an Oscar contender, but those days are past and I can’t imagine any studio being able to parlay this British comedy into an awards player even with the top loaded talent in the film.
