Review: (#1, C+) The arms-out running stance that’s familiar from the trailer is employed effectively. The background is mediocre even if fitting and the houses are cheaply tacked-in.
(#2, C+) When you see the film, this might actually explain what’s going on but for now it’s not a very intriguing design. (#3, C) As much as I appreciate the face in the “O,” the effort is minimal and the title lettering is uninteresting.
(#4-#5, C) Neither of these two format designs is terribly striking. The first tries for the corny character shadow idea (and fails) while the second taps into a prior design concept as well (and also fails).
Trailer Rating: C / B / B- / C+

Review: (#1, C) This teasing first trailer does absolutely nothing to generate interest. Its aesthetic of emptiness hoping for excitement doesn’t come across well. (#2, B) Explaining the situation in the second trailer does far more to generate interest. The concept is well executed, the intrigue is palpable, and the lack of specificity helps create a compelling horror mystery.
(#3, B-) The second trailer was much more effective than this but this seems to progress the story of the trailers forward rather than hitting all the same notes. That’s at least somewhat laudable. That said, it isn’t the least bit necessary.
(#4, C+) Making a horror film kid-friendly is not perhaps the smartest move but there’s something charming about the idea.
