Last Week’s Results

Proving that The Avengers is a boon, the second post-Avengers outing this year was a marked improvement over the prior films’ performances. Iron Man 3 performed much better than Iron Man 2 and Thor: The Dark World far outpaced its predecessor. That left little room for niche films, pushing Ender’s Game into a steep 62% decline. Meanwhile, last week’s other new films each showed surprising longevity, both falling just under 33%. Gravity continues its slow downward march out of the Top Ten while 12 Years a Slave proved that tough subject matter does not have to mean box office failure.
