Last Week’s Results
It was another good week for Gravity which had a superb holdover at just over $43 million. Not to be one-upped, Captain Phillips also had a sizable debut with north of $25 million, which is a strong debut for the weekend comparatively even if it was overshadowed by the Alfonso Cuaron’s space drama.

The Gravity trajectory is largely unprecedented. Reminds me of two things: Titanic and The way films used to play before Jaws. I’d say this ends up right around the box office total of another classic sci-fi: 2001: A Space Odyssey, which made $353 million adjusted for inflation.
A very unpredictable movie indeed. Notice how I was the only one who said it would finish at the top of the box office more than once, and I also predicted it stays in the top 10 the longest too. However, I also predicted it would make the least of the 3 of us. It will pass my total box office prediction by this time Sunday morning…..
