Last Week’s Results
In spite of strong reviews, You’re Next couldn’t muster the level of support The Conjuring received likely due to its minimal advertising push. This left the latest tween box office dud as the top newcomer. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones opened south of $10 million and in third place behind holdovers Lee Daniels’ The Butler and We’re the Millers. The third newcomer this weekend was The World’s End, which placed fourth for the weekend with the highest per screen average of the top ten. Blue Jasmine crossed the Top Ten border to give Woody Allen yet another in a recent string of hits.
