Last Week’s Results
Opening to a strong $116 million at the box office, Man of Steel‘s performance assures that there will be numerous sequels in the future and a planned Justice League movie should be able to build on this foundation. This Is the End couldn’t build good word of mouth and a positive reception from critics into more than $21 million over the weekend. This latest comedy dud may put the nail in the coffin of the Judd Apatow-class of actors that studios seem to give carte blanche despite lack of returns. Iron Man 3 finished the weekend just shy of the $400 million box office number which only 16 films have achieved. And since it’s still going fairly strong, expect it to finish off somewhere outside the all-time top ten, but probably topping The Hunger Games and possibly Toy Story 3 to finish 12th.
