This is our final week of the Awards Season Box Office Predictions game. And since there are only two new limited releases this week, it shouldn’t be too hard to predict, but I’ve added a temporary rule to make the week fun. Don’t remember the rules? Check them out here: Game Rules.
Submit the Following for this Week
DIVISION ONE
Guess the #1 Film at the U.S. weekend box office
Guess how much the #1 Film will make, if it is not also the highest grossing new wide release
Guess the highest grossing new wide release
Guess how much the highest grossing new wide release will make
DIVISION TWO
Guess in what order the week’s new wide releases will rank
Guess how much each new wide release will make
DIVISION THREE
Guess the top new limited release film at the U.S. weekend box office by per screen average
Guess what per screen average the highest grossing new limited release will make
This Week’s New Wide Releases
None
To make this week count for something, in addition to Division 1, which still applies, for Division 2 this week, predict the Top 3 at this weekend’s box office.
This Week’s New Limited Releases
Another Year (6 screens) Blue Valentine (4 screens)
NOTE
All right. Let’s vote on what has been suggested. The current rules for Division 1 will continue as an option for those who don’t want to or don’t have the time to participate in more than that.
For “The Doldrums: Spring Box Office Predictions” which of these do we prefer (vote for as many or as few as you like):
Current Division 2 Rules
Current Division 3 Rules
New Top 10 Rules (similar to Division 2, but encompassing the entire Top 10)
Div 1/2
Little Fockers 18M
True Grit 15M
Tron Legacy 14M
Div 3
Blue Valentine 50K
I think voting for the top 10 would be incredibly fun, and certainly each week would matter as someone could technically win 20 points; if you don’t mind the work, I say let’s try it. I wonder if we should be able to guess a little more specific numbers with everyone guessing all 10 movies and their earnings (maybe allow us half million guesses such as 11.5M or even hundred thousandths like 11.3M), but that’s just a suggestion. This contest has been a lot of fun and I know I really look forward to doing it every week 🙂
