It will be an interesting experiment. The Scary Movie franchise always scored big on opening weekend, yet it’s been far too long since the fourth installment, suggesting it may be a bit sluggish to start. That gives the baseball historical drama 42 a good chance of topping the box office. Ultimately, it could be a close race either way.

Individual Commentaries

Wesley Lovell: I love the Scary Movie films just for pure entertainment’s sake, so that would obviously be my choice, but 42 doesn’t look bad and The Angels’ Share could be a nice portion.
Peter J. Patrick: A new Ken Loach and a Jackie Robinson bio combine to make this look like a more interesting film week than many we’ve had lately.
Tripp Burton: As we move into the Spring, a lot of more interesting films are going to start coming out, starting with the first studio film that year I actually want to see.
