We only have one new wide release and that’s Tom Cruise starrer Oblivion. It also has Morgan Freeman, so that should make it a fairly sizable hit. Looking back at the last three decades, it’s hard to find a time when Cruise wasn’t a box office draw. While he’s had his downers, they keep coming back to him with all the ferocity of a land shark. Could he be the most successful actor in history? Possibly and I don’t see Oblivion supplanting that crown.

Individual Commentaries

Wesley Lovell: While there are quite a few items this week that look interesting, In the House is the only one that has me truly excited.
Peter J. Patrick: Another week of poor prospects for our movie going pleasure.
Tripp Burton: As is becoming par for the course for the year, some interesting smaller films are overshadowed by a bland-looking major release.
