By virtue of having double the nearest opener’s number of screens, The Lucky One should have no problem taking the number one spot, but will it be popular enough with audiences to pass a fifth week in the top spot by The Hunger Games? Most likely yes, but stranger things have happened.

Consensus

Below is a list of what we have come to a general consensus on. The number in parens represents the percentage of our contributors who agree with the statement.

Chimpanzee: It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but for the right viewer, it could be engaging.
The Lucky One: Can Scott Hicks shine with a film that looks so devilishly middle of the road?
Think Like a Man: If you’re a fan of Steve Harvey and his style of humor, this might be your thing.
Darling Companion: With this cast and the filmmakers, it could be good. Or it could be an absolute wreck. We aren’t sure.

As much as I love the natural world, I’m just not that fascinated with chimps.

Disney nature films have never been my thing.

Disney nature documentaries aren’t my thing, and they aren’t the Academy’s anymore either.

Thoughts

I don’t think I’ve seen much in the last few years that has been this fill-in-the-blank passé.

Thoughts

Scott Hicks’ films generally look interesting but tend to come up short. This could be an exception.

Thoughts

Nicholas Sparks romance films aren’t my thing, and they aren’t the Academy’s either.

It certainly isn’t short on cliché. It’s just not my thing.

Thoughts

Looks like another lame relationship comedy.

Thoughts

Steve Harvey’s romantic advice isn’t my thing, and it isn’t the Academy’s either.

Thoughts

The trailer doesn’t look very good, but I have to give it the benefit of the doubt simply because of the cast.

Thoughts

Trailer looks lame, but the writer/director and his cast have a mostly strong track record, so it might be worthwhile.

Thoughts

It has been a while since Lawrence Kasdan had a film make it to the Oscars, but this might bring him back
