The two contenders for the top of the box office this week are the Spike Lee/Denzel Washington feature Highest 2 Lowest or the action sequel Nobody 2. The former seems a much more likely victor.

Americana
Wesley Lovell: It could be interesting but the trailer didn’t sell me.
Pete Patrick: Looks like a whole lot of nothing.
Thomas La Tourrette: It looks like a cut-rate Coen Brothers film, which does not do a good job of selling itself.
Highest 2 Lowest
Wesley Lovell: Spike Lee and Denzel Washington could be a potent pairing but the film’s plot doesn’t seem that interesting.
Pete Patrick: Spike Lee’s remake of Kurosawa’s High and Low looks like his best film in some time.
Thomas La Tourrette: Spike Lee is always an interesting filmmaker, though this does not seem like one of his better ones, and Denzel Washington seems very subdued.
Nobody 2
Wesley Lovell: I wasn’t interested in the first, so I’m not interested in the second.
Pete Patrick: It doesn’t look too bad for a sequel I’ve never heard of.
Thomas La Tourrette: The first film was entertaining enough, but this feels like it gets too violent for no reason. Still, there should be some good humor in it.

The Limited Slate
Wesley Lovell: Nothing this week seems that interesting.
Pete Patrick: East of Wall, Happyend, and Went Up the Hill all offer something different that may be worth checking out.
Thomas La Tourrette: East of Wall and Happyend, and to a lesser degree Went Up the Hill, have good reviews but lackluster trailers that just don’t excite the viewer, so not sure if I will see any of them.
