It was so popular when it released in 2011 that they brought The Smurfs back for a sequel. They had so little confidence in the film in its predecessor’s winter berth that they’ve pushed it into the lackluster month of August. We’ll see how that works out for them.

Wesley Lovell: It’s rare for there to be a weekend there isn’t a single film I want to see. So, I guess I’m going to catch up on what I’ve missed.
Peter J. Patrick: This mostly brain dead year for movies continues with yet more wide releases I have no desire to see.
Tripp Burton: A lot of pretty dire films are coming out this week, so rent something classic and enjoy an evening in!
